While I try to keep most aspects of this project upbeat and positive, it has to be said that the amount of plastic waste we generate is truly frightening. It is an interesting balance to be so appreciative of those who are willing to save their plastic waste for me (without whom this project would not be possible), and simultaneously feel the need to beg people to PLEASE consider trying to find alternatives and reduce their consumption of single use plastic. I encourage you to write your congress people to urge them to pass laws to help solve this problem. You can also write to manufacturers to let them know how important it is to their consumers that they look for more environmentally friendly solutions.

If you'd like to save plastics for me, please note that it is important that all materials be washed and free of any residue, particularly food residue. I soak all materials in hot water and disinfectant before using them, but it really helps a lot to have all food residue removed beforehand. Below is a (not complete) list of the sorts of items I can use:

Juice Lids

Milk Jug Lids

Peanut/Almond/Sun butter Lids

Chip Can Lids

Soda Bottle Lids

Frozen Juice Container Lids

Shampoo/Conditioner Bottle Lids

Lotion Bottle Lids

Plastic Magnet Letters

Playdoh Containers and Lids

Marker Caps

Small Plastic Toys (Dinosaurs, Bath Toys, etc.)

Easter Eggs

Laundry Detergent/Fabric Softener Caps

Vitamin Bottle Lids

Applesauce/Baby Food Pouch Caps

Coffee Creamer Lids

Sanitizing Wipe Container Lids

Spray Bottle Tops
